Design a room with measurements

Design your room to the inch, then furnish it in 3D.

Cona lets you design a room with your exact measurements, free in your browser. Click any wall's length and type the real number: 16, 16' 6", or 4.2 m all work, and the grid snaps to a centimetre or about half an inch. Switch between feet and metres, set the ceiling height, measure any gap or area with the Measure tool, then place real furniture at the retailer's dimensions and see in 3D what fits. No sign-up to start.

How it works

Your measurements in, a room that fits out

01

Measure the room and draw it

Draw the outline, then click each wall's length label and type the measurement in feet and inches or metres. Toggle ft and m any time; the grid snaps to 1 cm or 0.05 ft.

02

Set the height and check the space

Set the ceiling height in Tools, Ceiling (2.0 to 4.5 m in 5 cm steps). Press M to measure: drag a box to read its sides and area, or Shift-drag a tape between two points.

03

Place furniture at its real size

Every catalog piece carries the retailer's dimensions, so the walking space on screen is the walking space you get. In search, the Fits my room filter shows only pieces narrow enough for your longest free wall.

What you can type

Write the length the way your tape measure says it

The wall length field reads 16, 16.5, 16' 6", 16'6 and 4.2 m. A plain number is taken in the unit the plan is set to, so in a feet plan 16.5 means sixteen and a half feet. Press Enter and the wall takes the new length.

If you only know the floor area, the Resize tool scales the whole plan to a typed area, and its minus and plus buttons change the area by 10 % a tap. The shape stays the same; every wall grows or shrinks together.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can I type in my exact wall lengths?+

Yes. Click a wall's length label in the plan and a Wall length field opens; type the number and press Enter, and that wall takes the length you typed.

Does it work in feet and inches as well as metres?+

Yes. The plan has a ft and m toggle, and the length field accepts 16, 16.5, 16' 6", 16'6 or 4.2 m. Lengths and the Measure tool's areas follow the unit you pick, in sq ft or m².

How precise is it?+

Lengths snap to 1 cm in metres or 0.05 ft (about half an inch) in feet. That is precise enough to plan furniture and walkways; it is a room planner, not a tool for construction drawings.

Can I set the ceiling height?+

Yes. Open Tools, then Ceiling, and move the slider from 2.0 to 4.5 m in 5 cm steps; walls, ceiling and downlights follow it. A tall door or window sets the lowest height the slider allows.

How do I measure a gap or an area in the plan?+

Press M for the Measure tool. Drag a box to see its width, depth and area, or hold Shift and drag to stretch a tape between two points.

Can I resize the whole room to a known floor area?+

Yes. The Resize tool takes a typed floor area and scales the whole plan to it, keeping the shape; the minus and plus buttons change the area by 10 % a tap.

Is the furniture the real size?+

Yes. The catalog is real products with real dimensions and prices from IKEA, CB2, Herman Miller and others, each linking to the retailer. The Fits my room filter in search checks a piece's width against your longest free wall; depth and the space around it are yours to check in the plan.

Is it free, and do I need an account?+

Yes, it is free, and no account is needed to start. Draw, measure and furnish straight away; a free account only carries the room between devices.
