Free floor plan creator

A free floor plan creatorthat becomes a 3D room.

Cona is a free floor plan creator that runs in your browser. Draw the walls at their real lengths in feet and inches or in metres, put the doors and windows where they are, and add interior walls until the plan holds every room of the home. Already have a plan? Upload a photo or a PDF screenshot and Cona traces the walls, doors and windows in about 20 seconds, ready for you to correct. When the plan is right, one tap shows it in 3D, where you can furnish it with real furniture. No sign-up to start, nothing to install.

What you can draw

A floor plan creator that does the whole home, free

Walls at their real length

Click a wall's length and type the real number. 16, 16' 6" and 4.2 m all work, and you can switch between feet and metres. The grid snaps to 1 cm, or about half an inch in feet.

Trace a plan you already have

Upload a photo or a PDF screenshot of a floor plan, up to 8 MB. The AI draws the walls, doors and windows in about 20 seconds. It reads the scale from the entrance door, so check one wall you know.

Doors and windows where they are

The opening tool puts doors and windows on any wall, sliding doors included. They stay part of the plan when you switch to 3D.

Every room in one plan

Interior walls snap to the walls and corners you already drew, so one plan holds the bedroom, the living room, the kitchen and the hall. Each room is measured on its own.

Measure and resize

Measure (M) drags a box and gives its sides and area, and Shift-drag is a tape. Resize scales the whole plan to a floor area you type. Tools, Ceiling sets the height from 2.0 to 4.5 m.

From plan to 3D in one tap

The plan view and 3D are the same editor. Look at the plan from any angle, furnish it with real pieces or with Cona AI, and share it by link.

How it works

Make a floor plan in three steps

01

Draw the outline, or trace it

Draw the outside walls in the plan view and type each real length, or upload a photo or a PDF screenshot of the plan and let the trace run for about 20 seconds.

02

Split it into rooms and add the openings

Draw the interior walls, then put each door and window where it is. Use Measure (M) to check any gap or area against the real home.

03

Check the scale and open it in 3D

Confirm one wall you know, or use Resize to match the floor area on the listing. Then switch to 3D, look around, and furnish it if you like.

2D and 3D

Draw it flat, check it standing up

In Cona the floor plan is the room. There is no separate drawing to keep in step with a model: the walls, doors and windows you draw in the plan view are the walls, doors and windows you stand between in 3D. Move a wall in the plan and the 3D room follows, because it is the same room.

That makes 3D a check on the plan, not a second job. A flat drawing hides mistakes that are obvious once you look at it standing up: a door that opens into a corner, a hallway too narrow to pass, a window that lands behind where the bed has to go. Spot one, switch back to the plan view, fix the line, and look again.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the best free floor plan creator?+

It depends on what the plan is for. For a measured plan that you then want to see and furnish in 3D, with no account and nothing to install, Cona is free. For a side by side of free tiers, watermarks and project caps across nine tools, see our free floor plan software comparison, linked below.

Can I make a floor plan online for free without downloading anything?+

Yes. Cona runs in the browser on a laptop, a tablet or a phone. Open it, draw the walls, and the plan is saved as you go, with no download, no credits and no watermark.

Can I create a floor plan from a photo or a PDF?+

Yes. Upload a photo or a PDF screenshot of the plan, up to 8 MB. Cona traces the walls, doors and windows in about 20 seconds. You then fix anything it missed and check one wall's length so the plan is to scale.

How do I draw a floor plan with exact measurements?+

Draw each wall, then click its length and type the real number in feet and inches (16' 6") or metres (4.2 m). The grid snaps to a centimetre, and Measure (M) checks any gap or area.

Can I draw a floor plan for a whole house or apartment?+

Yes. Interior walls snap to the walls you already drew, so one plan can hold every room. Each room is measured on its own, and you can furnish them one at a time.

Can I turn my floor plan into 3D?+

Yes, with one tap. The plan view and 3D are the same editor. Switch to 3D to walk around the rooms, then furnish them with real furniture at the retailer's dimensions.

Can I export or print my floor plan?+

Not as a file today. You can share the plan, and the 3D room built from it, by link, and anyone can open it in a browser without an account.
